TayTV has posted links to 10 documentaries, which they recommend, and are available online - for the moment anyway.
I hope to check a few of them out soon.

They do. Have you ever noticed? Next time you’re out with a group of people, take notice of who drinks what. In my experience, fat people often drink Diet Coke (or similar), and skinny people drink something else.
And I know fat people who’ve been drinking it for years and years, and they keep getting fatter!
Here’s a message to you fat Diet Coke drinking people: it’s not freaking working! In fact, I think it may be working against you!!! And that’s not even getting into the artificial sweetener you’re poisoning yourself with.
Oh, along those lines, I caught an episode of The Biggest Loser one night last week. OMFG, these are the most pathetic fucking people I’ve ever seen in my life. I was laughing, almost hysterically, in utter disbelief at the crybaby victim mentality on display. That’s not even a fair description - I don’t know how to describe it except that I was blown away. Wow.. the show is aptly named.

Can’t trust anything these days. As if we didn’t know, some of the news is fake.

An article over at Media Matters has a few interesting points to make:
… studies have shown that viewers of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart are consistently better informed about current events than consumers of other media, and Daily Show viewers are considerably better educated than viewers of The O’Reilly Factor. Further, consumers of Fox News in general have been found to be significantly more misinformed about current events than consumers of other mainstream media.
That’s good stuff. I know a few highly educated people who gulp down everything O’Reilly says like mid-westerners on meth. Formal education doesn’t translate to intelligence, or one’s ability to see clearly. Those political blinders are thick.

A coworker, Chrsitian, pointed me to this great printable World Cup Schedule.
Also, if you’re in the US, and you use Google Calendar, search for “World Cup TV Schedule” and add it to your calendar. Very convenient!

Yes, Lost just got great again. Wow.
Check out some close-ups and decodes of “the map” over at TVSquad.

I don’t watch the Super Bowl. I haven’t for years. I don’t like football, and the Super Bowl is just another football game, except really long. Anyway, I used to at least record it and zip through to catch a few commercials, but I don’t even do that any more. So I was happy this morning when I found all of the Super Bowl XL commercials on Google Video.
My favorites:

Yes, I watch The O.C. Not for much longer. I can wait until the kids graduate, but then I’m done. No really, I swear. Ahh, Summer. When I stop watching it can I be cool again? Oh wait.. hmm.
Desperate Housewives got deleted - I’m done with it.
Ok, my friend Ralfie was right, Roush Racing Driver X is brokeback. I got overly excited at the thought of a reality racing show. But it’s totally brokeback.
Surface remains teetering on the edge for me. They keep dishing out just enough to keep me slightly interested.
Invasion is still good. It’s X-Files’ish enough, but with some answers along the way.
I think I’m tired of A&E’s Intervention. You’ve seen one or two, you’ve seen ‘em all.
Both Prison Break and Alias have yet to make their spring returns. Prison Break is over for me. It’s stupid.
I’m excited for Alias to end (it’s the last season). It’s quite overdue.

“Lost” and the pacing of mystery over at TVSquad expresses my sentiments on the show exactly. It was, and still is, incredibly interesting for most watchers, as the mystery built up; however, at some point people will want answers. We all got burned by X-Files and I hope the Lost crew realizes this. They better start giving us viewers a little more to chew on, or we’re going to go away.
Other shows that are fading for me include Surface. I was just about done and then this week they actually started revealing some good stuff. It’s kind of cheesy, and close to my death list, but still alive.
I’m almost finished with Desperate Housewives. Actually I haven’t started it (since its Winter return) back up. Just can’t find the energy. And 24 is in the same boat.. just sitting on the DVR. And when Prison Break comes back, I don’t think I can stand to watch that either.
Alias is finally ending on its own, at least a season too late. But I have to watch now.
Invasion is still holding strong. I like the production, the acting is decent, and the story line good enough. Though, like the early days of Lost, maybe we’re still in the “dishing out the mystery” phase. Then again, they are giving us some decent answers.
I fired off Torrents on Battlestar Galactica. We missed getting in early on that one and I think we should try to catch up. I’ve only heard great things about this show.

This new show has some potential. I’ll be adding it to the Waits Family DVR or TiVo and giving it a go.
F/X has impressed me and is fully lit up on my radar screen. They ran a show awhile ago called Over There that was great; unfortunately, my opinion and viewership must have been in the minority, because it didn’t last too long. It’s unfortunate more eyes didn’t see it – it really was quality TV.
Quality TV is rare. And what little there is has to be watched and take off immediately, because networks have very little patience these days. Firefly, of course, is a prime example of such stupidity. In that case, Fox ran the show out of order, before the pilot, and didn’t even finish it!!! At least we got a sweet movie out of it in Serenity.

I just discovered a cool TV show called Roush Racing: Driver X. It may actually be in its second season now? I don’t know.
In it, Jack Roush is attempting to select a new driver, the best out of a few dozen, for his Truck racing team. Yah, truck racing managed to stick, I guess. They’re grading the drivers on not just driving, but also marketability; but I think that’s just for the camera, or a tiebreaker. They’re gonna pick the fastest guy.
I watched it for the first time last night. I enjoyed it a good deal; however, I don’t think I could stand to watch it Live (i.e. non-TiVo/DVR). The Discovery Channel editing is at an all-time high in this show – you know, where they squeeze 40+ minutes of “stuff” out of about 20 minutes of “actual stuff”? Yah, it’s annoying. Basically you just fast-forward through the commercial, and then a good 30 or 60 seconds into the continuation of the show, and then you’re where you left off.
Despite that, I plan on watching it. Seeing young guys drive Nascar/Craftsman Trucks straight at a concrete wall, really fast, is good entertainment. :)
It’s on The Discovery Channel.
Update: My friend Ralf says he saw an episode about a month ago and it’s gay.

Kuro5hin has a decent 2005 Asshole of the Year Awards article up. I’m really happy to see Marguerite “God Warrior” Perrin on the list. That woman was beyond crazy. The world, and especially her family, would be much better off without her. Also, Bono’s on the list, which is quite pleasing!

Tim Bray posted a link to a thorough airline biz blog, called enplaned. Looks fantastic, I’m subscribed. That puts me at 86 feeds.. I need to prune soon!
Additionally, I’ve been reading AVWeb for years. It’s bi-weekly newsletter, covering news across the entire aviation spectrum. I highly recommend it to anyone with interest in aviation.
Finally, I recently discovered a fantastic TV show, called Wings to Adventure, on OLN. I found this via an advertisement on AVWeb. I’ve only caught one episode thus far, but it was fantastic. It even had a commercial from Cirrus Design – any show sponsored by Cirrus has to be cool right? In that episode, they explored flying to Catalina Island, off the Los Angeles coast, amongst other things. The nice thing is they aren’t afraid to talk in pilot-speak; in other words, it’s not dumbed down – instead they seem to be aiming right at pilots. Very cool!

Wow, unbelievably, Nancy Grace has a stalker. Seriously, if you’ve seen this bitch on TV, you know what I mean when I say she’s a real piece of turd. The kind of woman whose cock tube is lined with spiny poison tipped barbs.
